Bee Happy, Eat Honey Butter!

What could be better than warm bread fresh out of the oven?
Warm fresh bread smothered in honey butter!!!

I worked in the kitchen of a retirement home in Western Michigan throughout High School and early college.  My boss, Sylvia, was a German woman.  Every weekend she would bake bread and make honey butter--most of which was devoured by a salivating staff before it ever made its way out the kitchen door!
(Ahhh, to be a teenager again without a carbohydrate care in the world.  Sigh.)
Every now and then I still get a craving for it.  With bread machines, refrigerator biscuits & crescent rolls, and so many great pre-made frozen bread doughs at the grocery store--there really is no excuse not to fill your home with the delicious aroma of baking bread. Then, indulge a little further by slathering that bread with homemade honey butter.  You can even spread the honey butter on your morning English muffin or toast ;-)  Whatever you decide to do, it's just a great simple recipe to have.

Honey Butter
3/4 cup salted butter, softened at room temp
1/4 cup honey
combine the two in a mixing bowl and whip with a mixer until light and fluffy.  Spoon into a serving bowl.

I always decorate my honey butter with little bees made of sugar from Fancy Flours.

The bees are always the first thing to disappear once the kids hit the table! grin.
